TROUGH-MAKING WORKSHOP

Make a hypertufa trough in which to display succulents, dwarf conifers, or alpine plants with Pam Maurer of Evergreen Gardens, Ames. Participants will make a round trough about 15” in diameter. Horticulture in the Heartland

9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Learn which plants, weeds, and seeds you can eat, how to install rain gardens, and tips for picking the right shade tree for your yard at this seminar at Clinton Community College. This annual event is sponsored by Bickelhaupt Arboretum, Clinton Community College, Clinton Trees Forever, and Clinton County Master Gardeners. Registration is from 8:30–9:00 AM, and the $30 fee will include continental breakfast and lunch. Each participant will receive a packet of horticultural material. Free garden program sponsored by: Moline Horticultural Society, Mississippi Valley Hosta Society and the Friends of Riverside. Trudi Temple is an extraordinary gardener who transformed an ordinary one-acre yard into a show garden that attracts hundreds of visitors each year. Trudi is also the founder of “Market Day,” a fund-raising tool for education. Her book Trudi’s Garden will be available to preview and purchase. Find out Trudi’s secret to composting in her garden.
